Insurance scams: They caused accidents with cheap used cars
The police in Kraljevo have arrested 35 people suspected of associating as members of criminal groups to commit crimes and insurance fraud.
They are suspected that, in the period from 2020 to 2022, as members of criminal groups, by previous agreement, they purchased used cars of lower value, with which they deliberately caused 12 traffic accidents, and then collected insurance from insurance companies for alleged injuries to participants in the accidents, in six cases.
They are suspected of thus damaging insurance companies for a total of RSD 4,478,930 for which they obtained unlawful financial gain.
Most of the arrested are from Kraljevo, while the others are from Cacak, Raska, Stara Pazova, Gornji Milanovac and Jagodina.
The police will also file criminal charges against seven people suspected of the same crimes, who are serving prison sentences, while a warrant has been issued for six people.
The suspects, along with criminal charges, were detained by the Special Department for the Suppression of Corruption of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Kraljevo.
