Freelancers again dissatisfied with Ministry’s decision: They announce PROTEST

President of the Association of Freelancers Miran Pogacar said today that a protest of freelancers would be held in front of the Ministry of Finance on January 21 because at the end of the year they received decisions for tax collection from 2017.

Freelancers, as he announced, would organize an activity in front of the Ministry of Finance on January 16 to express their dissatisfaction with the current situation.

He said that the decisions for paying taxes were distributed to those who sent or received money from abroad, who worked on cruisers, oil platforms, repaired planes, but that there were most of those who worked online.

„On that occasion, we asked for an urgent meeting with the Tax Administration and the Ministry of Finance, and they still have not responded,“ said Pogacar.

He pointed out that the problem was that their rights, which they demanded and which should have been included in the new Law on Citizens’ Income Tax, had not been realized.

„These are rights on maternity leave, the amount of taxes and what is most important, even if people want to pay, they do not know how. The Tax Administration did not explain or inform people on what they should do,“ Pogacar said.

He said that the figures submitted in the bills were different depending on how much someone had earned in previous years, but the biggest problem arose because the „transitional decision was submitted for influencers in terms of tax collection, because it was valid both in advance and for the past period“.

„Now that they have changed the collection system, there is a burden of up to 30-40 percent, when current payments are made together with the payments for outstanding debts. The Tax Administration calculated that for the past period, according to the transitional decision, it is necessary to pay about 530 euros tax-free,“ Pogacar said.
