Commissioner: Unequal rights to maternity leave demotivate women entrepreneurs
Commissioner for Equality Protection Brankica Jankovic has pointed out that it is necessary to completely equalize entrepreneurs, women who independently perform activities, with women who are employed by an employer, when it comes to exercising the right to maternity leave and leave for the care of the child.
On the occasion of the International Women Entrepreneurs’ Day – November 19, she recalled that she had submitted several initiatives to the Ministry for Family Care and Demography to do so.
According to her, „unequal treatment has no reasonable justification and it favours only one form of employment – employment with an employer“.
„In this way, female entrepreneurship is demotivated, and mothers have to choose between career and motherhood,“ Jankovic said.
