Chinese in Smederevo boast to Vucic: Steel plant’s growth 84.5 percent
Last year, in 2021, the Chinese company HBIS Smederevo achieved growth of 84.5 percent compared to 2020, it was said at the meeting of the representatives of that company with President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.
This is the highest level of revenues of that company since taking over the steel plant Zelezara Smederevo, announced the cabinet of the president of Serbia.
General Manager of HBIS Smederevo, Song Sihai, pointed out that, despite the energy crisis and supply problems all over the world, 901,000 tons were produced in Smederevo in the first nine months of this year.
He said that the volume of export of that company to the EU market during the first seven months of this year was 397,000 tons, which is 3.9 percent more than in the same period last year.
In a conversation with the representatives of the Chinese company and the Chinese ambassador to Serbia, Chen Bo, Vucic expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the HBIS Group in Serbia “operates stably and achieves the planned level of production on the very demanding and competitive steel market”, announcing that the improvement of relations with China would continue.
