BIZLife list “30 under 30”: Dajana Mandic, Corporate Law Specialist, Generali Osiguranje Srbija

She completed her undergraduate and master studies at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade. Her first job was in the law firm Vukovic&Partners, where she learned that „knowledge must be ‘grabbed’, that we must fight for our own place and that those who are hardworking, ambitious and self-confident will always find opportunities for advancement”. Although she did not find the career in law attractive, she saw herself in a strong company, which she found in Generali Osiguranje Srbija a.do. She is currently employed as a corporate law specialist, while in subsidiaries she is in charge of controlling business compliance and preventing money laundering. Dijana says that Generali offers a lot of room for personal development and advancement, it gathers excellent people from whom a lot can be learned and makes us give our best every day. She is part of the company’s sports team and the third generation of the Generali Talent management program. She enjoys nature, rivers, skiing, positive people and good food.

Why have you decided to stay in Serbia?

Honestly, I have not decided to stay, in fact, I came to Serbia and enrolled in studies and decided to build my life here. I believe that each of us should be the change we want to see and, simply, we should create Serbia that we want to have. So far, I have been convinced several times that if we are diligent, ambitious and know what we want, we can achieve it and succeed in it.

What did you want to be when you were a child?

When I was very young, I used to say that I wanted to be a lawyer. After that, I did not comment and many people were surprised when I decided to study law. The child in me may not have recognized the profession, but it definitely recognized the field of occupation, and as I made progress in my studies, I realized that I had, indeed, chosen the right faculty.

    Favourite subject at school?

I find it difficult to single one out. I was a valedictorian in primary school, and a holder of the certificate of excellence in secondary school, and I cannot say that I found any subject more difficult than another. Anyway, I never studied by heart, I always had to find some logic to memorize the lessons.

    Business role model?

I have never had role models. I try to learn from different people and adopt good characteristics, but, in the end, I still adapt them to my personality. I think that if we want to achieve something in life, we have to show the world the best version of ourselves.
