BIZLife „30 under 30“: Ivanka Stojnic, Health and Safety Manager, „Nestle Adriatic S“
Ivanka Stojnic is Health and Safety Manager and Environmental Manager in the company „Nestle Adriatic S d. o. o.“, where she works on improving the health and safety system, as well as reducing company’s impact on the environment. She graduated and completed her master studies in 2014 at the Faculty of Geography and the Faculty of Mining and Geology, the course of Environmental Protection, with a grade 10. Along with her master studies, she started her internship in the company Nestle, at Surcin based plant. She began her internship in health and safety sector and sector of environmental protection, where she gained highly valuable and practical experience in these fields. After a year spent at the company, Ivanka has assumed a current position, within which she deals with risk management and its reduction. The fact that Surcin based plant has been operating for three years without a work-related injury goes in favour of the job she has done so far. Also, Ivanka is focused on reducing waste that the company generates, thus she is intensively working with her team so that Nestle becomes the „0 Waste to Landfill“ company in Serbia. Is there anything you had to renounce in order to get to where you are now? As I started working along with attending master studies, leisure became a challenge. But with good organization and support of loved ones it is certain no part of private life has to suffer. Did success reach you, or was it the other way round? „Success, at least so far, has arrived at the right time, as a reward for work and dedication. I have never been in a position to claim the awards, they arrived themselves instead, and that is why I am very happy to work at the company Nestle. What is the most important lesson you have learned in your work so far? Success is measured not only by the results achieved, but also by how much we develop our people along the way. You are as successful to the extent you are willing to make a change. What is the ultimate goal? That our employees return home every day alive and well, without any injuries and satisfied. Also, we need to raise awareness of health and safety at work to a much higher level and across the entire Serbia. To become a company that has reduced its impact on the environment, that has a positive impact on its local community and people’s awareness of recycling and preservation of natural resources. A challenging goal, but I think that people’s awareness of these very important topics is slowly changing in Serbia. Favourite school subject? History. First job? Work at a souvenir shop in the US – Work and Travel program. Business role model? Tanja Zigic, Director of Surcin based plant. Motivational song? „Get up Stand up“ by Bob Marley.
