ASB: Citizens’ savings at EUR 11 billion and RSD 90 billion
The Secretary General of the Association of Serbian Banks, Vladimir Vasic, reminded that the current savings of citizens in banks are worth EUR 11 billion and around RSD 90 billion.
„The growth of RSD savings since 2012 is 400 percent, and EUR savings is 32 percent,“ he said at the round table „The importance of the deposit insurance system for the stability of the financial system,“ the Association of Serbian Banks announced.
The round table, which was held online this year, was organized by the Deposit Insurance Agency, the Belgrade Banking Academy and the Association of Serbian Banks, on the occasion of the Savings Day.
Vasic pointed out that strong measures of support from the National Bank and the Serbian government, which reached around 12 percent of the gross domestic product, were crucial for the stability of the banking system as well as the entire economy.
For their part, banks provided support through two waves of moratoriums, in the total value of more than three billion euros, as well as other benefits for clients – both citizens and enterprises.
