We sneaked a peek inside the National Museum: A look that you have been deprived of for a long time (PHOTO)
Following a detailed renovation and 15 years without a permanent exhibition, the National Museum is rapidly preparing to once again open its doors and receives visitors. Long-awaited and delayed opening has been scheduled for June 28th.
Until then finishing touches are in place, decoration and exhibition installation. We had a privilege to visit premises which still spread sounds and smells of renovation.
All this so that you can fully enjoy thousands of exhibits installed on three floors, spreading across 5,000 square metres.
Since prehistoric ages, classical antiquity, all the way to 20th century, you will once again be able to see art and history. From “Lepenski Vir”, monastery art, via Renoir, Picasso, van Gogh, etc. You will also be able to see artwork by Sava Sumanovic, Djordje Krstic, Djura Jaksic, etc.
Some of the exhibits that spark great interest in advance are Belgrade mummy and “Miroslavljevo Jevandjelje.” Belgrade mummy will not be exhibited at the reopening, but it will soon be on display. “Miroslavljevo Jevandjelje”, the oldest manuscript that has been preserved, will not be on display every day due to importance of this exhibit, but it will available on special occasions.
Price of the ticket will be RSD300 and Museum will be opened every day except Monday. Be patient, just for a little while.
