Two more retail chains started charging plastic bags
Two more retail chains have joined the plastic bag charge campaign, thus there are now four such chains in Serbia. Minister of Environmental Protection Goran Trivan says that campaign has already had an effect, as use of plastic bags decreased by 50%.
Plastic bags are now being charged at “Shop&Go”, “Aman”, “Maxi” and “Tempo” stores.
At the end of the year results and achieved effects will be summarized, and if they are not satisfactory, juridical ministry does not exclude the possibility of permanently banning the use of plastic bags.
