Ten MOST DOWNLOADED apps worldwide
If you want to know what is happening in the world, an important indicator is which apps are being downloaded.
In 2022, Facebook dropped by more than 25 percent, TikTok continued to win, and CapCut, previously a not-so-popular video editing program, entered the top four most downloaded apps in the world. Not shockingly, it is made by TikTok’s parent company and it is influencers’ favourite tool for creating – you guessed it – TikTok videos.
Unlike in 2021, two games made it to the top 10 most downloaded apps, according to the data released by the mobile activity company Apptopia.
And as people download the Facebook app less and less, their parent company Meta still has a reason to celebrate, because WhatsApp, a messaging app, has continued to grow both globally and in individual countries. Unfortunately, it is doing that at the expense of Meta’s primary Messenger app.
These are the top 10 most downloaded apps worldwide:
TikTok: 672 million downloads
Instagram: 548 million
WhatsApp: 424 million
CapCut: 357 million
Snapchat: 330 million
Telegram: 310 million
SubwaySurfers: 304 million
Facebook: 298 million
Stumble Guis: 254 million
Spotify: 238 million
What we see is evidence of major changes in the mobile ecosystem and where people spend their time while on their mobile devices, says Adam Blacker of the Apptopia company which conducted the research.
“Messenger is giving way to WhatsApp, whose number of downloads has grown on numerous markets.
SHEIN was the most downloaded shopping app globally with 229 million installations, while Wish, which had been on the most downloaded list since 2017 now completely disappeared. In the USA, however, SHEIN took second place with 40 million installations, while Amazon took first place with 47 million app downloads.
