Srbija Kargo RENEWED with new locomotives
At the railway station Resnik in Belgrade, 16 new locomotives Siemens Vectron were put into traffic, whose procurement, for the purposes of the company Srbija Kargo, cost 64 million euros. 48 passenger trains were previously purchased, and now, „after almost 40 years“ 16 freight locomotives were procured, said Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia Zorana Mihajlovic. „Sixteen new locomotives are important not only for Srbija Kargo, but also for Serbia, because our goal is for Serbia to be an unavoidable transit corridor, both in railway and road transport,“ the minister said. She also stated that „a few years ago the average age of railroad engineers in Srbija Kargo was around 50 years, and in the past two years about 180 young engineers were employed.“ She added that 500 kilometres of railroads will be renovated this year and next one. Serbia Kargo annually transports 13 million tons of goods along Corridor 10.
