Serbia is the third investor in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but investments are not EQUALLY distributed

Serbian investors are ranked third in the investors’ rankings in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a total of one billion euros invested so far. Although predominantly oriented towards Republika Srpska, the 14-percent stake of Serbian capital in investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina, when compared to total investments, put Serbia in third place among foreign investors, measured at the national level. The largest Serbian investment was recorded in 2007, when BAM 1.3 billion were invested in Bosnia and Herzegovina, EUR 650 million respectively. It was the acquisition of „Telekom Srpska“ by „Telekom Srbija“. The following year was significant as well, when just over EUR 100 million was invested by Serbia in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and this amount was slightly exceeded in 2011 and again in 2013. According to the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, EUR 25 million was invested in 2017, and the following year there were no investments. Serbia is the third largest investor in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a stake of 14.2 percent in total investments, the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina stated for the „Politika“ daily newspaper. This agency announced that investments in information and communication dominate in the total amount of investments from Serbia, with a 70-percent stake, followed by investments in trade with 11.3 percent and manufacturing industry with 7.4 percent. The agency says that „Telekom Srbija“, „Komercijalna banka“, „Naftna industrija Srbije“, „Hemofarm“, „Swisslion-Takovo“ and the company „Imlek“ are among the most significant investors.
