Most difficult case in Batajnica hospital so far: She is 20 years old and has „cemented“ lungs
Approximately 700 patients are currently treated in the largest Covid hospital in the country, in Batajnica, and director of this institution, Dr. Tatjana Adzic Vukicevic, has warned that in the last 10 months of operation, the most difficult case of the coronavirus infection has been a very young patient, a twenty-year-old girl.
She has not been vaccinated and she has no associated disease.
„In the eighteen months we have been fighting the pandemic and ten months of operation of the Covid hospital, we have not had a more difficult infection in a younger patient. A 20-year-old girl, a pharmacist from Belgrade, unvaccinated, does not have any associated diseases. She was intubated yesterday, she has no lungs, she breathes with the left tip of her lungs, her lungs are cemented,“ she says.
It takes an average of five to seven days from the onset of the first symptoms to admission to the hospital, and the symptoms such as in this young girl appear in nine days, in some cases even faster, in four.
More than a thousand of new cases of infection are recorded in Belgrade, and eight more cities have three-digit numbers of new patients.
Doctors warn that infection occurs most often in persons who are unvaccinated and that there are huge crowds in Covid infirmaries, which is why they had to extend their working hours until 10 pm.
Four intensive care and 18 semi-intensive care units are opened at the Covid Hospital in Batajnica.
She says that out of ten patients in the intensive care unit, no one has been vaccinated.
The doctor warns that this is a „fire“ and that the situation is much worse than it was in December last year, when the hospital was opened.
