Brnabic: We deserve GRECO’s criticism, we are working on it
Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic believes that Serbia will be able to timely submit the report to the Group of States against Corruption of the Council of Europe (GRECO).
On Wednesday, October 31, Serbia must deliver additional documents to that body of the Council of Europe, as it is estimated that it regressed in the fight against corruption and that, out of 13 recommendations it received, it fulfilled seven only partially and six not at all.
„This is a big issue and we have to work hard on it,“ Brnabic said, recalling that a „coordination body“ of the Serbian government was established to work on those recommendations.
„Serbia does not view the criticism of GRECO negatively because we deserve criticism,“ says the prime minister, who believes that a lot has been done over the past six months, but that a lot more remains to be done and that cooperation with the GRECO group must continue.
GRECO, the Council of Europe’s body, stated in mid-March that Serbia had not applied any of the 13 recommendations of that body from 2015 to prevent corruption among MPs, judges and prosecutors.
