The NBS introduces a QR code for encouraging non-cash payment methods

The National Bank of Serbia is introducing a new payment method with the help of the QR (Quick Response) code, aimed at reducing the cost of payment transactions and making electronic payments easier, thus encouraging citizens to use non-cash payment methods, reports the Danas daily.

The user only needs to direct the phone’s camera and scan the QR code in order to initiate payment, which reduces the possibility of a user making an error when entering payment-related information. The popularity of the QR code for payments is constantly rising worldwide.

Complying with the recommendation of the NBS, but also following global trends, PUC Informatika Novi Sad is among the first that placed the unique QR code on August bills.

The data contained in the QR code on the printed bills is sufficient to create a payment order, without errors and much faster, by reading at POS terminals, or in a mobile banking app.
