NBS enables agricultural loan reprogramme

The Executive Board of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) has adopted the decision enabling the reprogramme of agricultural loans for debtors engaged in the purchase and storage of fruit in order to allow the adequate management of credit risk in the portfolio of agricultural loans in the conditions of difficult agricultural production.

As stated, bearing in mind that it has been established that at the current stage of the agricultural cycle, due to difficult circumstances, and in particular due to reduced demand and unfavourable trends in the prices of raspberries on the international market, persons involved in the chain of production and purchase of fruits, i.e. raspberries, are in a particularly unfavourable position, a reprogramme of liabilities to debtors of the bank engaged in the purchase and storage of fruit in the cold storage facilities is enabled.

The reprogramme of liabilities implies the possibility of postponing the settlement of debtor’s obligations to a bank on the basis of principal for at least six, and at most 12 months.

In the case of a reprogram, the loan repayment period is extended so that the amount of an instalment, the periodic obligation that would be paid after the expiry of the grace period, determined at the moment of the reprogram approval, does not exceed the amount before the reprogramme is applied, and during the grace period, debtors will pay exclusively the agreed interest.

The right to the reprogramme can be exercised by debtors who, on May 31, 2022, were not in arrears for more than 90 days under any obligation towards the bank to which the reprogramme applies, who are not in default status in that bank and whose claims are not considered to be a problematic loan, i.e. a problematic claim within the meaning of NBS regulations.
