
Mihailo Misa Janketic passed away
One of the greatest Serbian and Yugoslav actors, Mihailo Misa Janketic has passed away in Belgrade today, the Yugoslav Drama Theatre has announced. In his rich career he played over a hundred roles in theatre, mostly in his Yugoslav Drama Theatre. He also left a huge mark on film, television and radio. He is the winner of all significant acting and social recognitions, the „Dobricin prsten“, the „October Award”, the “Sterija Award”, which he won four times, and the “Pavle Vujisic” award for lifetime achievement. He played the first role on the scene of the Yugoslav Drama Theatre back in 1961, in the theatre play Richard III. He was member of the Yugoslav Drama Theatre ensemble from 1962 until 1988. During that period he had more than sixty roles. Misa Janketic had his last premiere at the seventieth anniversary of the Yugoslav Drama Theatre, playing Krnec in the “Kralj Betajnove” in 2018. He was born on May 24th, 1938 in Novi Sad. He finished grammar school in Belgrade. He enrolled in literature studies at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, but after three years, in 1958, he became student at the Academy for Theatre, Radio, Film and Television. He graduated in 1962, in a class of Professor Mate Milosevic.
