Ljajic: Long-term damage from taxes, other players are jumping in

If Pristina does not abolish 100% tax on the import of goods from Central Serbia, long-term damage will exceed 66.2 million euros, which is the current damage, says Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of Serbia, Rasim Ljajic.

Ljajic has warned that the damage will be long-term, as „other players“ will occupy the market of Kosovo that producers from Central Serbia had.

„If the taxes were abolished today, some of the businessmen would come back from Serbia, but if this goes on, this will not have an effect, because other players will occupy that area and the damage will be even greater,“ Ljajic told RTS.

As he specified, out of the total import from CEFTA countries, Serbia participated with 60 percent in Kosovo, while export from Slovenia increased by 123 percent, from Greece by 114 percent, Albania by 60 percent, and Macedonia by 40 percent.
