Is there anyone who can represent and defend employees in Serbia?
Disunited in everything, even in defending their interests. One could use that sentence to explain Serbia. Activities of trade unions as well as protection of the rights of employees tell the same story. Zoran Stojiljkovic, head of one of the branch trade unions in Serbia dubbed “Independence” has expressed his opinion on the topic.
“We never had autonomously organized trade unions, as we always expect of state to do something, and we are exposed to immense party employment. Every time we launch a campaign it is minimized. State is ruled by party-devoted cadre, male and female commissioners, and at the same time we are “at disposal of the capital that has not brought high technology,” he says. Only more powerful trade unions can be more trustworthy.
