Immunologist: THERE ARE NO OUTBREAKS in Serbia, DRASTIC measures are not expected
Immunologist Srdja Jankovic says that the current epidemiological situation in Serbia is relatively favorable, but he also added that there is a potential for it to deteriorate.
While having guest appearance at „Pink“ TV station, he said that the data on the number of newly infected in the previous days are not „disturbing“, but they are a warning sign.
„The current epidemiological situation in Serbia is not so bad, but we should not get comfortable because there is a potential for things to get worse,“ the immunologist said.
Stating that, strictly speaking, there are currently no outbreaks of epidemic in Serbia, Jankovic said that it was expected that approximately half of the newly discovered cases were in Belgrade due to, as he said, the highest population density and social activities.
When asked about the possible introduction of new measures in case of an increase in the number of newly infected, Jankovic said that „such drastic“ restrictive measures as those from the beginning of the epidemic are not expected for now, but added that more consistent control of compliance with measures already in force is possible, such as wearing a mask on public transportation.
Commenting on the proposals for the eventual return of part of the supporters to stadiums in Serbia, he said that the conditions for that have not yet been met and conveyed the assessment of the Crisis Staff for Suppression of the Epidemic that mass sports events would pose a great epidemiological risk at this time.
