Employees of Leoni SUSPENDED WORK for one hour: Their salaries got DECREASED by RSD 5,000 to RSD 10,000

Employees of the company Leoni spontaneously suspended their work for one hour in facilities in Malosiste, Nis and Prokuplje, due to salary decrease and unpaid overtime. As Beta agency learns from employees, this is not an organized or reported strike since, as they said, something like that is impossible at Leoni. Instead, employees have refused to work this morning, before they meet with directors and unit chiefs. „We have requested a meeting with plant management in order to receive explanation from them why June salaries were decreased by RSD 5,000 to RSD 10,000. So far salaries were around RSD 39,000, and bow they paid us between RSD 31,000 and 35,000,“ one of the employees of Leoni has pointed out. One of disgruntled female employee has said that the working conditions at Leoni have drastically deteriorated since foreign directors left and our people came in their place. „Overtime and work on Saturday is transferred to free days, but those free days are taken from you if plant sends you two or three days on holiday during the week, because there is no work. If you are working on a production line and you need a day off for any reason, there is no way you can get it, no matter how much overtime you had,“ Leoni employee has emphasized. She has said that workers are regularly being moved from one job to another, or from one plant to another, even though most of them did not sign a consent for that. General Manager of the company Leoni Srbija, Clemens Sachs had denied employees’ statements about a one-hour strike in facilities in Malosiste, Prokuplje and Nis, due to decreased salaries. „There was no strike in the company Leoni Srbija. On Wednesday, July 10th, a group of our employees requested a talk with the company management over a misunderstanding that arose in connection with salary calculation,“ Sachs has said in a written response to the Beta agency.
