Cyber-attack: Hackers „LOCKED“ Novi Sad’s services, they demand BITCOINS

The servers of Novi Sad city administration services, as well as several other public services were hacked over the weekend and hackers are demanding bitcoins to unlock the systems, the 021 portal has learned. The servers of several other public services within PUC Informatika were also hacked. As reported by 021.rs, this is a hackers’ attack, most likely from abroad. City cameras in Novi Sad are currently not working, and city service employees have been told they cannot access their emails. As the portal unofficially finds out, the cyber-attack was reported to the police and the high-tech crime department, and hackers are demanding large sums of virtual currency to unlock the now already encrypted and locked servers. The servers also contain valuable databases. Citizens could find out this information if, for example, they tried to pay their bills at Informatika’s counters. The Informatika company says that there should be no fear of the abuse of personal data of citizens due to the cyber-attack, because the database is stored on another platform.
