
Budget deficit almost a BILLION EUROS, public debt over 50% of GDP
The deficit of the Serbian budget in the first four months of this year is 114 billion dinars because revenues amounted to 379.8 billion, and expenditures reached 493.8 billion dinars, the Ministry of Finance announced. The deficit amounted to 67.1 billion dinars in April, after collected revenues amounted to 83.5 billion and expenditures reached 150.5 billion dinars. Expenditures for employees in April were 25.1 billion dinars, and transfers of mandatory social insurance (The Pension and Disability Insurance Fund of the Republic of Serbia, the National Health Insurance Fund, the National Employment Service and the Fund for Social Insurance of Military) were 75.8 billion dinars. Subsidies amounted to 10.3 and welfare to 10.2 billion dinars. At the level of the general government budget, preliminary, in the period between January and April, the fiscal deficit in the amount of 109.2 billion dinars and the primary fiscal deficit in the amount of 55 billion dinars were realized. Serbia’s public debt was 24.55 billion euros at the end of April, which is 52.4 percent of the estimated gross domestic product (GDP) in this year. At the end of March, the public debt was around 24.31 billion euros, i.e. 51.9 percent of GDP.
